    Summer is wonderful! However, the hot weather will still cause some dangers if we do not pay attention to some tiny things. 

    In the following paragraphs, I will list some of the common health tips that everyone may know but always cannot remember. Today, I just want to remind you of tips to avoid some hurt in this summer.

    1. Drink more water. When you start to feel thirsty, your body has thirsty for a period. In summer, people keep sweating all the time and when you lose your body's water to a certain percentage, you will feel thirsty so that you can drink some water in time.

    2. Avoid exposing to the direct sunlight. Especially when you are on the beach, you should sit under the umbrella because the strong sunlight may cause the cell to become cancerous. When you go out, you should wear a hat or take the umbrella to shell yourself.

    3. Keep exercises. Many people especially the young people like to stay in their house enjoying the coolness of the air-conditioners. That is not healthy. People still need to keep doing exercises to strengthen the body immunity.

    4. Do not stay straight to the operating air-conditioner. Well, everyone knows that is cool but too easy to catch a cold. If you don't want to see the doctor and take medicines, you should not do that.

    5. Beware when you go to the swimming pool. In summer, swimming is such an attractive activity. However, there are many potentially dangerous things if you are careless about the swimming guides. At least, please do the warming-up exercises before you go down to the swimming pool.

    6. Wear the plain color clothes when going to the outdoors. We know that the deep color clothes will absorb more heat from the sunlight and it will make you feel hotter than dressing in the plain color clothes. Slight color like white color will be your good choice when going out. 

    We will have many plans in this summer and it is wonderful! But most importantly, we should consider the cautions of these activities before you start up. Enjoy yourself in this hot season!

    DIY Scandinavian Hoop Necklaces

    Welcome back to our DIY gal-Friday, Kara! I’m itching to make some of her newest creation, these DIY Scandinavian hoop necklaces! Don’t be surprised if you see me rocking these all summer.

    I’m going to take a guess and say that you all have seen those Scandinavian hoop mobiles that are popping up everywhere recently? It seems like you can’t scroll through Instagram without a few showing up in your feed on someone’s wall. They are sort of a cross between a woven wall hanging and a mobile and I love them! Well, being the out of the box gal that I am, I decided to use them as the inspiration behind these DIY Scandinavian hoop necklaces. So now I can take the pretty statement piece with me wherever I go!

    Materials:

    • 3″ wood embroidery hoop
    • Yarn
    • Embroidery Floss
    • Brass jewelry wire (I used 16 gauge)
    • Gold 10mm jump rings
    • Colorful beads and pendant pieces
    • Pliers
    • Faux Suede cording

    DIY Scandinavian Hoop Necklaces-4

    Step 1: Remove the inner piece of the embroidery hoop to use as the base of the necklace. Now wrap your wire across and the hoop and around the sides of the wood. You will need to use the pliers to make sure the wire is wrapped close to the hoop and then cut off the excess wire.

    Step 2: Cut off a 12″ long piece of embroidery floss, then cut the bottom half off of the embroidery floss bundle to create a long piece with several strands. Take the 12″ piece of the embroidery floss and loop it around the bottom of the wood hoop and then string a bead onto the tail.

    Step 3: Slide the bead to the top and then tie the tail around the middle of the top part of the embroidery floss.

    Step 4: Cut the embroidery floss ends into a nice V shape.

    Step 5: Wrap the yarn around the hoop starting at the metal piece and working around to the other side. Use glue or tie the yarn at each end and cut off any excess yarn.

    Step 6: Add a large jump ring and your pendant piece to the top of the hoop. Feel free to also add an eye pin with more beads on it to the top. Then either loop your suede around the hoop or through another jump ring and the top of your beads and tie the suede at the length you want your necklace.

    DIY Scandinavian Hoop Necklaces-5

    Feel free to adjust these instructions however you like to create your own unique statement necklace. As you can see I used several different pieces and even a strip of leather to create a few different styles. I love all the color on these and the mix of wood, metal, and fibers. Can’t you just see wearing these DIY Scandinavian hoop necklaces all summer long?!

    The major reason for summer colds is the weak immune system. But, unlike winter season when our immune system gets weaker because of low temperatures, in the summer season our immune system suffers from the sun exposure (tan strikes the immune system too).

    Here are some principles for you to avoid catching a cold in summer.

    1. Don't sit right under or in front of the working air conditioner

    But sometimes we cannot avoid it. In some occasions, such as in your car, in the public hotels and restaurants or in your working office, etc. If can, you should turn down or turn off the air conditioner, or you can sit on the place far away from the air conditioner. In your office, it is suggested that you should prepare a coat for the lower temperature.

    1. Don’t eat too much fried and spicy food

    It is easy to catch a sore throat if you eat too much fried food. If you don’t do something, it has a big chance to lead to quinsy. Drink more water can reduce the possibility of catching a cold.

    1. Don’t expose yourself directly to the burning sun

    You can sit or stand under the parasol, wear sunblock and sunscreen shirt to avoid the sun exposure. In your daily dressings, you can choose the cotton, linen and silk clothes.  Linen tunics and dresses, linen shirts or blouses are really irreplaceable in summer when traveling or in hot and humid climate. They provide coolness and have high absorbency, more importantly, they possess good heat conductivity characteristics.

    1. Eat food sufficient with Vitamin D

    Vitamin D is an essential vitamin by the body for the absorption calcium, immune functioning, and alleviation of inflammation. Fish and meat, milk and Yogurt and Tofu, etc contain a lot of vitamin D, you can eat every day to strengthen your immune functions.
